VERTICAL FARM INSTITUTE vfi
The vertical farm institute is a team proficient in a number of expertises and they have become a leading international research network on the topic of vertical farming. Architects, engineers, plant physiologists and artists represent the broad spectrum of knowledge required to develop and implement the new typology of vertical farming.
The founding members of the vertical farm institute are: Helmut Holleis, Patrick Jaritz, Lucas Kulnig, Daniel Podmirseg, Sebastian Sautter, Bernhard Sommer, Doris Steinacher.
It is our vision to establish Vertical Farming as a technology and to contribute significantly to food security. The vfi operates within the framework of the UN agenda 2030 for sustainable development and the EU action plan for closed-loop / recycling economies.
Our partners bring extraordinary expertise to the table, specializing in the areas of building and control engineering, architecture and energy, biology and plant physiology, as well as energy production. The vertical farm can realize the sustainable and future-oriented food production only in collaboration with custom-designed architecture, urban development, resource-conserving technology and specialized plant physiology.
